Minsk hotels offer rooms to 2nd European Games guests starting at $15 per day

Minsk hotels offer rooms to guests of the 2nd European Games Minsk 2019 at prices starting at $15 per day and ending with $500-600 per day depending on the hotel category. The figures were mentioned by Deputy Head of the Central Office for Consumer Market of the Minsk City Executive Committee Yuri Natychko in BelTA's press center on 15 May.

There are a total of 52 hotels and five hostels in Minsk. They offer 6,000 rooms and can accommodate about 10,000 at a time. As many as 31 hotel complexes with 5,000 rooms have been designated for accommodating client groups of official persons of the games.

According to the source, foreign guests are confirming their bookings. Minsk hotels are busy selling spare rooms directly or via travel agencies. “We believe the tourists, who will come for the 2nd European Games Minsk 2019, will have enough accommodation options, including budget ones,” Yuri Natychko noted.

BelTA reported earlier that Minsk hoteliers have signed a memorandum on keeping down prices for their services. Hotel prices right before and during the 2nd European Games Minsk 2019 are not supposed to grow higher than by 10% in comparison with the prices registered on 1 June 2018 in U.S. dollar terms in line with the central bank's exchange rate.

Demand for accommodation in Minsk is primarily driven by foreign tourists, who account for about 78% of the hotel services sold in Minsk. The demand for rooms peaks during New Year and May festivities. High-occupancy rooms are in demand before and during festivities while demand for single-bed rooms drops considerably.
