The Youth in Science international conference will take place in Minsk on 14-17 October, Deputy Chairman of the Council of Young Scientists of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB) Stanislav Yuretsky told reporters, BelTA has learned.
Stanislav Yuretsky recalled that the Council of Young Scientists arranges a variety of events every year. The biggest of them are the Festival of Science that has recently been held in the Central Botanical Garden and the Youth in Science conference that debuted in 2003.
“The interest in this conference has been growing in recent years on the part of young scientists of the NASB and universities, vocational training schools an secondary schools. This year's conference will be a kind of test for the Council of Young Scientists, because we will take stock of the work done over the past two years,” he said.
“A presentation of science startups is scheduled for 14 October. Taking part in it will be representatives of the academic community of Belarus and other states. A robotics tournament and the Young Academy exhibition of research outputs of fledgling scientists will be held on the sidelines of the conference. In addition to that, we will run a Belarus-Russia symposium Science Horizons. Among the organizers of the forum are the academy of sciences of the two states. This forum will bring together Belarusian and Russian researchers and aspiring scientists. Its goal is to scale up academic partnerships between the two states,” he informed.
The competition 100 Talents of the NASB will be held for the second time this year. “An interdisciplinary session of the competition will start working on 16 October. The researchers whose entries were shortlisted last year will showcase their solutions. Each of them is a unique researcher, an established scientist under 35 with international experience,” Stanislav Yuretsky said.
The Youth in Science conference is one of the biggest youth forums in Belarus. It is a prestigious showcase event for talented youth from the CIS and non-CIS states. The forum will demonstrate big international and inter-disciplinary projects, solutions of young scientists. There will be panels on agrarian science, biology, humanities, medicine, physics and engineering, mathematics, chemistry and Earth sciences. School students are invited to take part in thematic events on environment, energy, culture and local lore.
