Minsk Oblast, China's Guangdong Province sign cooperation roadmap

Minsk Oblast and China's Guangdong Province have signed a cooperation roadmap for 2020-2021. The signing ceremony took place during the visit of a Belarusian delegation to Guangdong, BelTA learned from the press service of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee.

The document will allow establishing a common market based on the principles of transparency, legitimacy and mutual benefits. It will also help strengthen mutually beneficial trade and economic ties.

The document was signed by Minsk Oblast First Deputy Governor Igor Makar and Guangdong Province Vice Governor Chen Liangxian.

According to Igor Makar, the parties are determined to build direct ties between the regions, among other things. Minsk Oblast companies have already established contacts with Chinese partners: all milk processing enterprises and a number of meat processing companies of the region have permits to supply their products to China. In January-August 2019 alone, about $17.5 million worth of meat products were shipped to China. The work on this front will be continued. The parties agreed to set up a joint working group to address current issues and facilitate cooperation.

Addressing the provincial authorities, Igor Makar conveyed an invitation of Minsk Oblast Governor Anatoly Isachenko to return a visit to Minsk Oblast. In addition to that, he suggested holding the Days of Minsk Oblast in Guangdong in 2020. This event could incorporate a business forum, a concert and a photo exhibition about Minsk Oblast.

The Belarusian delegation discussed supplies of Belarusian agricultural products to China and establishment of a joint milk processing company. Slutsk Creamery signed a $2 million contract for the supply of foodstuffs with Greenland Group. Another document was signed with Shanhai Pujia Food Technology Co.

In January-August 2019, the trade between Minsk Oblast and China exceeded $1 billion, with export accounting for $335 million, up two times over the same period a year before.
