To get milk, write a prescription, and get a cure for pressure, 131 elderly residents of Slutsk region already turned to the hotline for the delivery of essential goods.

Most often, calls arrive on weekdays before lunch. But even at other times, employees of Slutsk Territorial Center for Social Services did not remain without work: last lonely weekend five lonely pensioners who came to us for help.

— One person asked to write a prescription from a doctor, another one - to buy medicine. And we also completed three requests for the delivery of products, ”said Olga Zhoglo, director of Slutsk Social Office - Most often, the elderly are asked to buy drugs for pressure. A standard grocery basket is usually this: milk, sour cream, bread, cottage cheese, sausages. Lemons are in great demand. I would like to note that our pensioners are very well informed: everyone receives guests only in a mask, many immediately process packages with an antiseptic, and wipe the door handles.

Assistance is provided to lonely elderly people not only by employees of the territorial center, but also by volunteers: members of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union, trade union organizations, and the Red Cross. In addition to delivering essential goods, they also distribute to retirees protective equipment - medical masks, antiseptics, gloves.

- Recently, a large batch of reusable gauze masks was given to us by the BRSM regional ofice - dressings for our center are sewn at a local agricultural clinic, says Olga Zhoglo. - They also received masks specially for our veterans, each of them was given six pieces. So we are working very actively in this direction.
