In order to process samples taken from people and to identify those infected with the coronavirus COVID-19, a virology laboratory was opened in the Soligorsk Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology, Mlyn By reports.

Note that samples will also come from neighboring regions.

As Irina Leushina, the chief sanitary doctor of the Soligorsk region, noted, the laboratory in the center has existed for more than one year and there they have been engaged in bacteriological and other studies. And to work with viruses it had to be seriously retrofitted.

Alexander Kilchevsky, Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences, helped in the purchase of special equipment. In addition, assistance was provided by the Institute of Physiology of the NAS of Belarus, the Institute of Microbiology and the Scientific and Practical Center of the NAS of Belarus for Agriculture. The head of the department of biochemistry and biotechnology of the last enterprise, Elena Dolgova, helped to establish everything.

Irina Leushina also noted that Olga Trukhan and Anastasia Akulich were sent their doctors in advance to undergo training in the virology laboratory of the Minsk Regional Center for Hygiene, Epidemiology and Public Health.

By the way, permission has already been obtained signed by the chief state sanitary doctor of Belarus Natalya Zhukova to work with pathogens of the third danger group. The laboratory has already begun to work around the clock - two shifts of 12 hours.
