“In the modern world, high technologies are an important driving force behind economic development and improvement of people's quality of life. Digital transformation of all sectors of the modern society is one of the national priorities of Belarus,” the head of state said.

The message of greetings runs: “TIBO is an excellent platform for development of information and communications technologies, and effective cooperation of representatives of the scientific and business communities. By building an open dialogue here, you participate in the process of shaping the ideas of the nearest future.”

Aleksandr Lukashenko thanked the foreign guests of the forum for their professional interest and trust in the country at this difficult time for the whole world. “Active work of the representatives of the Eurasian Economic Commission, the EAEU member states, the CIS and other international unions will let us strengthen international partnership in the IT sector and the implementation of the digital agenda,” the head of state said.

The president wished everyone successful work, new mutually beneficial contracts and pleasant impressions from their stay in the beautiful and hospitable Minsk.

The chairman of the regional executive committee Alexander Turchin congratulated FC BATE on winning the decisive match of the Football Cup of the Republic of Belarus among men's teams in 2021.

The bill on constitutional amendments will be discussed by Belarusian MPs at the spring session, Deputy Chairman of the Standing Committee on State Construction, Local Government and Regulations of the House of Representatives Viktor Svillo told reporters on 28 May, BelTA has learned.

“A special commission has been put together today to prepare the bill for the first reading. The deadline is 4 June, and the bill should pass the first reading by the end of this session at the latest. The second reading will be mandatory because in line with Article 139, bills concerning constitutional amendments should pass two considerations with an interval of at least three months,” the MP said.

According to the MP, the special commission includes people with great experience. It is chaired by Chairman of the Standing Committee on State Building, Local Government and Regulations of the House of Representatives Valentin Semenyako.

More than 7.1 thousand eleventh-graders will receive certificates of graduation from secondary school this year, and more than 13.9 thousand ninth-graders will receive certificates of general basic education.

As in the previous year, each district has the right to independently choose the most optimal option for the delivery of certificates and graduation. When discussing the organization of holidays, representatives of the local executive authorities, school leaders and parents of alumni take into account the solemnity of the event and the need to comply with anti-epidemic measures.

The last bell in the schools of the Minsk region will ring on May 29. From June 1 to June 9, exams will be held there, after which graduation parties will be organized on June 10.

Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko spoke in favor of increasing the term of office for MPs in Belarus as he met with MPs, members of the Constitutional Commission and representatives of the government bodies on 26 May, BelTA has learned.

The head of state was asked about his opinion regarding a possible constitutional innovation, currently discussed, which is to introduce a single day of voting at the election of deputies of all levels, and whether it would contribute to the development of representative democracy in the country.

“The question is not even about the development of democracy. If you have elected a parliament, develop it. I am the most interested person here. This is most importantly because I am not eternal. I have to leave something behind which will last for centuries. I would like to leave something good after me, including you. So it is not about democracy. The point is to have fewer triggers for shaking up society,” the head of state said.

“I am in favor of the parliament and councils working for five years, not four. There should be some two years between the presidential election and the elections of councils and parliament. We still have to think how to do it. However, it should be a single voting day,” Aleksandr Lukashenko added.

As BelTA reported earlier, the day before the meeting MPs adopted an address to the president to introduce to the House of Representatives a bill on amending the Constitution, which provides for the possibility of elections to local councils of deputies of the 29th convocation to be held simultaneously with the elections to the 8th-convocation House of Representatives.
