In the Brest region, the number of unprofitable enterprises over the three years of the five-year plan has almost halved. The chairman of the Brest Regional Executive Committee Anatoly Lis said this today at a briefing for regional media, BelTA has learned.
"The share of unprofitable organizations over the past three years has almost halved. Positive trends in production growth in the industrial sector of the region have been further developed: the cumulative increase in industrial production exceeded 15% last year," said Anatoly Lis.
The region's economy over the past year received Br725.5 million of net profit, which is more than 14% of the national figure. Meanwhile, three years ago, the share of the region’s profits in the national volume was only about 1%.
More than one and a half times the forecast for foreign direct investment on a net basis was exceeded - more than $ 92 million were attracted to the regional economy. According to the governor, this is the best indicator for the region in all previous years of the current five-year period. With the attraction of FDI in 2018, 17 investment projects were implemented. Among them, large projects have been launched to create furniture production in the Ivatsevichi district with a total investment of about 20 million euros, the construction of an enterprise for the production of monocrystalline silicon ingots in Pinsk (investment volume is more than $ 4 million).
$ 1.3 million of Chinese foreign investment was secured, of which FDI was $ 1.2 million. Brestmash OJSC began assembling minibuses from Chinese components of JAC Motors company in December 2018. 40 minibuses were assembled. 600 units of vehicles are planned to be assembled this year "And in 2020, the company should assemble about 2 thousand minibuses," said the head of the region.
