The National Bank of Belarus expects the inflation to stabilize at 5% by the end of the year. The matter was high on the agenda of the enlarged meeting of the Board of the National Bank on 25 July, BelTA learned from the information and public relations office of the National Bank.
In H1 2019 the actual annual inflation was slightly above the target which was caused by the temporary factors, the influence of which is gradually diminishing. The intensity of the inflationary processes is expected to decrease further. According to the National Bank estimates, the rate of inflation will stabilize at 5% by the end of the year.
In Q2 2019 the monetary conditions reflecting the overall impact of interest rates and exchange rate on the economy remained neutral in general.
To maintain financial stability in H1 2019 the central bank continued to limit systemic risks, maintain the international reserves and strengthen their structure, de-dollarize the economy, to ensure safe operation of banks and other financial institutions, and to maintain effective operation of the payment system.
“In the aggregate, the results achieved in the price and financial stability are creating favorable conditions and foundation for the sustainable development of the Belarusian economy,” the central bank said.
The inflation target set out by the National Bank is 5% by the end of the year (in December 2019 over December 2018).
