Belarus' grain harvest over 80% complete

Belarus has harvested some 1,776,000 hectares of grain (except for maize, buckwheat and millet), which makes 83.1% of the cropping areas, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.

As of 13 August, Belarusian farmers harvested over 5.6 million tonnes of grain, with the average yield of 31.9 centners per hectare (26.9 centners per hectare last year).

Brest Oblast remained a leader with its harvest over 98.6% complete (1,188,000 tonnes of grain). Grodno Oblast harvested 93.2% of its areas (1,141,000 tonnes of grain).

Minsk Oblast has harvested 84.3% of its areas, producing 1,460,300 tonnes of grain.

Harvest in Gomel Oblast is 82% complete (583,600 tonnes of grain). Mogilev Oblast has harvested 80.6% of its areas, making 636,000 tonnes of grain.

Vitebsk Oblast has cut 60% of its areas to produce 652,900 tonnes of grain.

Some 2.162 million hectares was planted with grain and leguminous crops (excluding maize, buckwheat and millet) in 2019. The procurement order on grain is 815,000 tonnes this year. The order is 79.7% (649,500 tonnes) complete.
