Belarus, Egypt seek closer cooperation in industry

Belarus and Egypt intend to deepen industrial cooperation, develop joint projects and remove barriers to bilateral trade, the press service of the Belarusian Industry Ministry told BelTA following a visit of Industry Minister Pavel Utyupin to the country.

The visit took place from 8 to 10 December. The Belarusian delegation included representatives of industrial enterprises, including Valery Ivankovich, Director General of OAO Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ trademark), the managing company of the holding company BelavtoMAZ.

Talks were held with Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry Amr Nassar and Minister of State for Military Production Mohamed al-Assar.

The press service noted that the parties agreed upon the terms of delivery of the first batch of MAZ vehicles to the Helwan Machinery and Equipment Company, taking into account the localization and use of local components.

The parties also discussed the promotion of joint products in Egypt, Africa and the Middle East, with which there are duty-free trade agreements. The delegation visited the maintenance centers of MAZ and Cartec a dealer for International Co. for Industry and Projects.
