Belarus amends telecommunication laws

Amendments to the telecommunication laws have been introduced by Council of Ministers' Resolution No. 881 as of 20 December. The resolution was published on the National Legal Internet Portal, BelTA has learned.

According to the Communications and Informatization Ministry, these amendments are designed to ease the work of economic entities. For example, if an owner of a telecommunication network or a data transfer network changes their place of residence or a name, they will no longer have to conduct all measurements again. The permit for connecting to a telecommunication network and for using a cable television headend will be valid for an indefinite period of time.

There will be no need to get the go-ahead of executive authorities in order to build or commission subscriber lines. The cable television headend should have such a permit to be able to operate.

In addition to that, the resolution covers some matters related to permissions for designing, building and commissioning fiber optic lines. The legislation is brought into line with Decree No. 350 as of 18 September 2019 “On specificities of using the national segment of the Internet network”.
