Over 8m tonnes of grain harvested in Belarus

Belarusian agricultural workers have harvested 8.025 million tonnes of grain, BelTA learned from the updates posted by the Agriculture and Food Ministry.

As of 16 September, Minsk Oblast harvested almost 2 million tonnes of grain, Grodno Oblast cropped more than 1.56 million tonnes, Brest Oblast nearly 1.35 million tonnes, Mogilev Oblast 1.12 million tonnes, Vitebsk Oblast 1.07 million tonnes, Gomel Oblast 921,000 tonnes.

The average yield was 36.9 centners per hectare (in 2019, the yield as of the same date was 31.1 centners per hectare).

Grain and leguminous crops (excluding maize) were harvested on the area of 2.147 million hectares, or 99.1% of the plan.

Harvesting of buckwheat and millet is also in full swing, with 61.6% and 71.5% of the area under these crops already harvested. Some 82.2% of areas under spring rapeseed were cropped.

Some 279,900 tonnes of sugar beet was harvested. The yield is 438.3 centners per hectare vs. 450.8 centners per hectare last year.

A quarter of all land under potatoes was cropped, with 196,700 tonnes of potatoes harvested. The yield is 309.5 centners per hectare vs. 331.9 centners per hectare last year.
