On February 25, a month of healthy and safe working conditions started at the organizations of forestry in the Vitebsk region, BelTA learned first deputy head of the regional department of the State Labor Inspectorate Department of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection Sergei Anufriev.
The purpose of the month is the prevention of industrial injuries, the elimination of violations of the requirements of legislation on labor protection in forestry organizations. Additional measures will be taken to strengthen labor and production discipline, create healthy and safe working conditions at each workplace: workers are provided with personal protective equipment, equipment, serviceable equipment, equipment and appliances.
The work of mobile teams in logging and woodworking organizations that provide methodological assistance to managers of organizations and specialists in labor protection will be intensified. In addition, there will be a seminar on this topic and other events. Managers who have not ensured safe working conditions will be held accountable in the prescribed manner.
According to the operational data of the regional department of the State Labor Inspectorate, in the organizations of the Vitebsk region since the beginning of the year, four fatal industrial accidents have occurred. In two of them, workers in the region’s leskhoz were killed while felling trees. In 2018, organizations of forestry institutions in the Vitebsk region registered one fatal accident and two resulting in serious occupational injuries.
The structure of the Vitebsk State Production Forestry Association includes 19 leshozes. The forest fund managed by the Vitebsk GPLHO covers 1657.1 thousand hectares, which makes up 87.5% of the forests of the Vitebsk region. The association employs over 6.5 thousand people.
